Photo & Media Policy
This Photo & Media Policy describes how SnapReport handles photos and voice notes captured or attached within the App.
Purpose of media collection
SnapReport allows you to attach photos and voice notes to job records so you can:
- Document site conditions before and after work
- Provide visual evidence for clients, builders, or strata
- Record quick audio notes when you don’t have time to type
All media is intended to support job reporting and your own record keeping.
Local storage of photos and voice notes
Photos and voice notes are stored as part of your SnapReport data on your device. They are saved in your local storage (for example, IndexedDB or equivalent for the environment you are using).
The App does not automatically upload your photos or voice notes to a central server controlled by the developer.
Use of photos in reports
Photos attached to a job may be included in the PDF report generated by the App. Captions you add to photos are shown under those images in the report.
When you share or email a PDF report, any photos embedded in that report become visible to the recipient. You are responsible for making sure that any photos you include are appropriate to share and compliant with your obligations to clients, workers, or other people who may appear in the images.
Voice notes
Voice notes are stored locally and are available for playback within the App. They are not embedded directly into generated PDF reports.
If you export a backup from the App, voice notes are included in that backup so they can be restored later. If you share that backup file with others or store it in third-party services (for example, cloud storage), those services and recipients may have access to the voice notes contained in the backup.
Permissions
To capture or attach photos, the App may request access to your device’s:
- Camera
- Photo library or file system
To record voice notes, the App may request access to your device’s microphone.
These permissions are used only for attaching media to jobs within SnapReport. The App does not use photos or voice notes for facial recognition, biometric analysis, or any unrelated AI processing.
Your responsibilities
Because SnapReport is local-first:
- You are responsible for choosing which photos and voice notes to capture and store.
- You are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from people who may appear in photos.
- You are responsible for how you share generated reports and backup files containing media.
- If you work under specific legal or contractual requirements (for example, regarding privacy, workplace safety, or client confidentiality), ensure your use of SnapReport and any media you capture complies with those obligations.
